From the Beggining

Hey guys. Okay, so. This it hopefully gunna be a blog about me and The Amazing Indigo. I am so proud of my 16.1hh flea bitten grey hunk of Thoroughbred. Let me tell you the story from the beginning....

It all started about a year and a half ago, when I took my first riding lesson at Hickory Hills Farm, which will be where most if not all of the events in this blog take place at by the way... After about 6 weeks or so on a gentle beginner pony named Millie, my instructor felt I was ready for a ''a little bit more of a challenge,'' so she put me on this big, scary, ginormous ex racehorse, which I had seen ridden by a more experienced rider, now one of my best friends, anyways. At the time I saw him being ridden he had just came off about a year's rest after a bad tendon injury. The first ride is never pretty; lots and lots of bucks. Needless to say I was a bit intimidated, but by the end all my fears had melted away and had been replaced by, what then I thought was ''hate'' but I now know I wouldn't be such I good rider without those early feeling. It's too easy if you go jump on a push button horse. You don't learn to ride that way. You learn by determination and drive, both of which Indigo has taught me. Every time my instructor assigned horses for the day, I would pray to get that easy push button comfort-zone pony, but I didn't. I got Indigo. And every time she assigned him, I would get a quarter way around the arena at a trot, and he would stop (Indigo is a VERY hard horse to keep going.) Then we gradually started getting half way around, then 1 time around, and pretty soon, we were keeping up with all the other horses. It was a tough way of going, but that has made me who I am today.
You have to understand. Indigo was ready to turn out to pasture when I started riding him, he wouldn't even get NEAR a painted jump, he was fat, his muscle tone was bad from being off work for months. He was nippy. He was just awful. BUT now we are competing in the all the Advanced classes at horse shows.
SPEAKING OF HORSE SHOWS!!! We just came back form out first today. 1 first [would have been two firsts but I forgot the course... my bad] 3 seconds. 1 third, and 1 fifth[very excited about this one, it was pink.] I hope I didn't leave any ribbons out. A year ago. Just to think one year ago, Indigo wouldn't even LOOK at a painted jump, LET ALONE a 2 ft one, I'm just s excited. My instructor even said that and said she was so proud of me, that means a lot. :)) Ohh yeah, and Indigo was never been ridden Western before. We rode Western today. Got fifth in a class of eight. He never stops the amazingness.

Any questions ask. Email ect ect. I will try and keep updated every couple days.

We show'd 'em Indy. <333
